Career

Upon graduation from law school, Lauren practiced law in midtown Manhattan, followed by working at Thomson Reuters for 8 years.  While she enjoyed the work, she knew that this was not her passion.  She knew that, to be truly satisfied with her career, she needed to pursue her dream of working with children with special needs.  She did just that.  She kicked off this career change in Africa, where she participated in a volunteer program.  Through this program, Lauren volunteered at a pre-school in a township in the mornings and worked with children in the community, such as in the library and in safe houses, in the afternoons. When she returned, Lauren  began working at a pediatric therapy center in Manhattan.  Lauren worked as a Behavior Therapist and worked her way up to Lead Behavior Therapist.  In this position, Lauren co-lead a classroom, along with the teacher, of students with differing diagnoses.  She created each child’s behavior plans and oversaw the Behavior Therapists in the classroom.  Upon moving to New Jersey, Lauren worked as a BCBA consulting in various school districts, providing in home services, providing supervision and conducting parent training.  She applied this experience to her role as a Behaviorist at a private school for children with special needs.  Lauren credits her time in the legal field with providing her with a unique set of tools that aid her in helping children as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).  These skills include analytical thinking and problem solving.
