As your child progresses, so does the therapy

Your child will meet and master new skills and goals as time goes on and ABA therapy progresses.  She may possess new strengths and interests, becoming more engaged in a variety of activities.  The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who works with your child will ensure that the treatment plan, and subsequent therapy, will never be stagnant.  As your child grows, so does the therapy.  The overall goal of ABA is to provide your child the opportunity to live life to his greatest potential.  This involves growing over time, maturing and showing interest in new things.

Prior to beginning therapy, goals are created for your child, based on an assessment and conversations with you, the parents.  As time goes on, and these are mastered, new goals will be created.  The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) working with you and your child will continuously conduct assessments to determine appropriate goals and create programs to help your child reach these goals.  Behaviors will also change as therapy progresses.  These will also be addressed during assessments and a Behavior Intervention Plan will be created or modified.

As your child matures, new interests arise; some things that might have been reinforcing in the beginning of treatment may not be later on and new reinforcers will arise.  These changes in interests and reinforcers are incorporated into your child’s ABA therapy.  Preference assessments will be conducted often, to determine what it is that motivates your child, or what he would like to earn.  This is a large proponent of ABA.  We want to reinforce your child for appropriate behaviors and engaging appropriately in skills, we cannot do this if we are using something that your child no longer has an interest in.

ABA services help your child live life to the fullest, whatever this may look like for your child.  Your child matures and grows over time, and this will be accelerated with ABA services.  As your cild progresses, so does the therapy.
